My Story

Welcome back! I think this would be a great time to tell you a little about me and my story. Why I do what I do, a little more about the coaching approach I take and some fun things about me! I’m sharing pics of my sweet pup Emma, but you’ll have to keep reading first 🙂

I’ve come to the conclusion that I became interested in health and well-being at a young age, but was unsure how to form a career out of it. Both my grandfathers had chronic illnesses and my grandmother had diabetes. Due to the nature of the conditions, I saw how their quality of life (and our relationships) were affected as they aged. I wanted to be sure I stayed healthy myself and help others prevent chronic conditions. After exploring options during my first year at a community college, I was introduced to the world of “Dietetics.”  At that time, the options to work as a dietitian were much different than today, (primarily clinical), but I wanted to pursue it. Throughout college, internship, grad school I was able to navigate my way through my experiences, checking off the boxes of what I liked and disliked about the field. After my internship I landed a job coaching and have been doing some version of this ever since.

Perhaps you read my credentials in the About section and thought, wow, that’s a lot of coaching. Or maybe the opposite, hmmm only 10 years, not sure if she can help me. Whatever your thoughts are, I can tell you that I’ve talked with a lot of people. Through these experiences and interactions, I have seen so many wins, challenges, successes, failures, progress, momentum and motivation. We all are struggling in one way or another and we all are winning, in one way or another. Wherever you are at the moment, I will meet you there. We’ll move forward, at your pace. I use the coaching/counseling approach called Motivational Interviewing to ask open ended questions, to engage you in the conversation. Remember in my previous post, How can coaching help me? I promise you my full attention during coaching sessions. Listening, empathizing, understanding. I want to hear your motivations. I want YOU to hear your motivations and story. This is about you. You do have the answers and we’ll figure this out together.

Alright, I promised you some fun things about me! I’m a Wisconsin native and moved to VA for my internship, NC for grad school and absolutely adore this state. My husband (below) is also from WI (although we met after I moved to NC) and we go back home to visit when we can. We love the NC mountains and are in the process of relocating there, from Raleigh. We rescued our sweet pup Emma in February ’21. She’s a great traveler, loves to take walks and of course, chase bunnies. 🙂 I also love to be outdoors and hike, embracing quiet time. (I’m an extroverting introvert, I need “me time” to refill my cup!) Yoga, meditation, self-growth reading (along with some Harry Potter) and podcast listening are daily practices as well.

There you have it! Feel free to ask me any questions about my story to get to know me better. Remember my intention is to have you know, like and trust me before we work together. 🙂

Stay tuned for my next post and be well!
